We asked Karin to cater our annual Holiday Party this year, and the high point of the whole event was the food! Every one of our guests commented about how good the food was, and what good choices had been made. The table was set beautifully. And (most important to me), the food was easy to eat at a stand-up party. She and her crew arrived early, prepared the platters, oversaw the tables, circulated the food among the guests, and cleaned up afterwards. It was surely the best and easiest party I have given. I have attended other events that Karin has catered, including our son’s wedding. Without exception, both the preparation and the presentation of the food have exceeded our expectations.
I would recommend A Sense Of Taste and Karin Beer-Koller to anyone planning a function where food is to be served. Not only will it be well done, but you will enjoy knowing Karin herself.

Sense-ational - A Sense of Taste!

A Sense of Taste recently catered and served a surprise birthday celebration in our home for about 20 guests.

I contacted Karin from A Sense of Taste when I started to think about planning a surprise birthday party for my wife. Karin could not have been more helpful and the party could not have turned out better! My wife - who professes to hate surprise parties - was thrilled - when after taking her shopping for a couple of hours - we returned home to find 20 of her friends nibbling on fantastic appetizers - and a spare room turned into a romantic dining room where we were served a wonderful 4 course meal.
Karin and her assistant only needed about an hour to set up and be prepared for the arrival of the quests - and were thoroughly prepared and very attentive throughout the evening. The only unplanned event of the evening was that the party ran a bit longer than expected - people were having such a good time that the quests lingered a bit longer than Karin had expected - which I consider a compliment to Karin and her menu, service and attentiveness.
Karin's flexibility and wide ranging menu choices offered much to work with in planning the menu for the party. As a guy who felt a bit out of his element when asked questions about menus and preferences, especially when considering a menu to please 20 - Karin was flawless in making suggestions that worked.
After calling A Sense of Taste, I have to say my best decision was to let Karin lead in making most menu choices - starting the turkey meatball appetizers (also accompanied with a special bruschetta). My first thought when hearing her suggestion was that I would not pick turkey meatballs to serve to my guests. But again I went against my own judgment and I went with Karin's suggestion and wow was she right - fantastic!
The menu for the meal indeed turned out to be very special and as good as a fine restaurant meal only better. Karin’s little touches make the difference. The salad was good and the addition of special warm cheese croutons turned it into wonderful. The shrimp appetizer with peanuts and zucchinis was unique and also fantastic. The two lasagnas, one vegetarian with a white sauce and the other with a meat sauce were also top flight and really gourmet - and the topper - the Creme Brulee, with birthday candles for my wife, really hit the spot. And to think that A Sense of Taste was able to pull it off in our home as a surprise - unbelievable. When it was over - after the last of the guests had departed - we almost could not believe that A Sense of Taste had been in the house - the clean up was flawless - and except for a few left overs in the fridge there was no evidence that someone else had been in the kitchen.

All in all we could not be happier with A Sense of Taste and look forward to being able to utilize them again in the future and we are busy trying to invent a reason to do so as soon as possible!

Since I have been using A Sense Of Taste to cater several family functions, I never have an invitation declined. Although as a family we don't eat meat, Karin has created a variety of delicious menus that have been the topic of conversation amongst our family and friends. Pleasing to the eye and tempting to the taste buds, we will continue to serve her wonderful creations at our parties and family gatherings. We can not say enough great things about her.
