I paint simply because I enjoy the process and feel constantly challenged in so many ways by each painting I attempt. I am passionate about rich color, interesting shapes, perspectives and textures, and try to incorporate these in provocative ways in my paintings. I sometimes use textures such as modeling paste, various papers, cloth, gold leaf and occasionally even stained glass in my work in order to add dimension and tactile interest. I am enthusiastic about exploring as many creative avenues as possible.
Because I grew up in diverse cultures and countries, I feel that not only was my personal growth enriched but also the many impressions are now expressing themselves through my art, hence the paintings of unusual locations and scenes.
Artists are usually asked what inspires them to create and many give some deep philosophical reason. My reason is simply because I enjoy it immensely.
For those who have always wanted to paint but were intimidated for some reason, I agree with Goethe who said,
"Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."
